Architect Matthew Spinks has been appointed director at Johnson Design Partnership an award-winning county firm at the age of just 31, it was announced today.
Matt Spinks said he was delighted and honoured following the announcement by Johnson Design Partnership, based in Bridgnorth.
Matt, who recently tied the knot and bought a new home in the town, has worked at the company for nearly six years contributing to some of the region’s most prestigious projects.
Founder and managing director Vic Johnson praised the “outstanding natural ability” of the firm’s newest director, adding that Matt had honed his skills over the years to cultivate a great understanding of architecture both in his designs and sense of responsibility to the projects he works on.
The firm prides itself on creating landmark buildings which are sensitive to their surroundings.
“From day one Matt has always shown a mature talent way beyond his years but has perfectly combined that with the enthusiasm of youth and an inspired eye for great design,” said Vic.
“We at Johnson Design feel very privileged to have him as part of the team and this new role is well-deserved and positive for the firm as a whole. We are looking forward to a very busy time ahead with several new and exciting projects in the pipeline and know that Matt is an integral part of those plans.”
During his career Matt has worked on everything from the Molineux football stadium to plans for a giant golden bridge in Wolverhampton.
He said today that it was a great sense of achievement to be appointed director and he was very excited about the challenges ahead.
“Architecture is not about design for design’s sake. It is about making a lasting statement which is sustainable for the long term,” said Matt.
“I think it is a great testament to the firm and its commitment to the community that it has such a positive attitude towards young professionals and encouraging people to settle and work in the county.
“Having recently got married and now settled in Bridgnorth is important for me to work with a firm which has such an informed vision for the future. It is a great move for me and I look forward now to building the business further and working on projects I have a great passion for.”
